For this Special Virtual Documentary Night, in honor of Black History Month, we are meeting to talk about the documentary, [The Five Demands](https://documentarynight.wordpress.com/2026/01/10/the-five-demands/). In April 1969, a small group of Black and Puerto Rican students shut down the City College of New York, an elite public university located in the heart of Harlem. Fueled by revolutionary fervor, the strike turned into an uprising, leading to the extended occupation of the campus, classes being canceled, students being arrested, and the resignation of the college president. Charles Powell (Civil Rights Lawyer, Class of 1971), Rosalind Kilkenny McLymont (Journalist and Author, Class of 1971), and Andrea Weiss (Co-Director, Co-Producer) have agreed to join us for a special guest Q&A!
