🌱🐮 Spreading Kindness One Costume at a Time! 🐮🌱
I had the honor of stepping into a very special role—literally. I suited up as River the Cow, a beloved mascot for Animal Hero Kids, to support my longtime Vegan mentor and hero, Susan Hargreaves, at an event that brought smiles, inspiration, and education to youth in South Florida. But this wasn’t just about a fun costume—it was about continuing a mission that’s been changing lives for decades.
Who is Susan Hargreaves?
For over 40 years, Susan has been at the forefront of the Humane Education movement. As the founder of Animal Hero Kids, her work has reached hundreds of thousands of students across the globe. Her message is simple yet powerful: every living being deserves compassion. Through interactive presentations, empowering stories, and animal rescue missions, Susan and her team are shaping the next generation of kind-hearted changemakers.
What is Animal Hero Kids?
Animal Hero Kids is a nonprofit organization that delivers Humane Education programs to schools, empowering youth to become advocates for animals. From assemblies and classroom talks to their inspiring Animal Hero Kids book, the program celebrates young people taking action and teaches the importance of empathy, sustainability, and plant-based living.
Highlights of their work include:
- Presenting in over 100 schools a year
- Distributing free educational resources nationwide
- Honoring youth who rescue and protect animals
- Promoting cruelty-free living and Vegan values
Susan’s ability to connect with children is nothing short of magical. She inspires them to believe in their own power to make a difference.
Past Collaborations with SoFlo Vegans & Vegans Explore
Our journey with Animal Hero Kids began when I first dressed up as Ronny V. Cow at a local VegFest—an experience that sparked a powerful connection with Susan and her mission. From that moment on, SoFlo Vegans and now Vegans Explore have proudly supported Animal Hero Kids in a variety of meaningful ways.
Over the years, we’ve:
- Produced educational events and youth-centered programming
- Created short documentaries and promotional videos
- Managed and maintained the Animal Hero Kids website
- Provided ongoing promotional support across our media platforms
- Collaborated on press coverage, social media campaigns, and live events
Together, we’ve worked to amplify the voices of young changemakers and spread the message of compassion to families and schools throughout the community.
